GIZ funding, Bertoua 2012
This reinforcement project of the capacities of the actors in forestry zone, took place following the new joint decree unites N° 0076/MINATD/MINFI/MINFOF of 26 June 2012 laying down the methods of planning, use and follow-up of the management of incomes gotten from the exploitation of forestry and faunal resources intended for the Councils and the Local Village Communities (known as decree 0076). It is in order to contribute to the improvement of the governance of the forest zone and to boost development on a local scale that decree N° 520 witnessed modifications in the form and the content to give rise to this joint decree 0076.
This project held in Bertoua from 19th to 21st November 2012 during a workshop organized by the African Centre for Applied Forestry Research and Development with the aid of the Deutsche GesellschaftfürInternationaleZusammenarbeit (GIZ-Cameroun) under the benefaction of the Regional Delegate of Forestry and Wildlife for the East Region (Bertoua) and representative of the Minister of Forestry and Wildlife (MINFOF).
This project must have permitted more than 62 participants (Mayors, Communities, local administrations, natives and organisations of the civil society) to get acquainted to the spirit of the joint decree of 0076 and its innovations.
Activities of the Project
- General presentation of the joint decree N° 0076, modified and unmodified organisations of the decree and innovations (innovations of general order, linked to the organization of the management committees, the innovations linked to the operation of the management committees and to financial management).
- Clarification on the management of income, raised from forest exploitation and faunal resources;
- Creation of work groups in commissions on the obstacles linked to the implementation of the new decree, precautions to take before uplifting these obstacles, the actions to carry out to ameliorate the implementation of the decree at the level of the communities.
- Restitution of knowledge acquired at the level of the communities by the representatives of the said communities under the supervision of forestry technicians.
